High Performance Building Design, Analysis & Consulting
Designed for Living
Building Beyond Carbon is a design firm that takes a systems approach to building design. We start with the building site and maximize the design to take advantage of what the site has to offer. The design, materials and energy generation systems are integrated into one cohesive system to provide comfort and healthy living space for the occupants by designing and building with the natural environment.
Building Beyond Carbon's founder is an energy systems engineer and internationally certified passive house designer with over 20 years of business consulting experience. Building Beyond Carbon was born out of years of research on high performance buildings, energy modelling, carbon emissions, solar systems and hydrogen technologies.
Building Beyond Carbons mission is to design better, healthier and more sustainable buildings.
It is very important to consult with us early in the design stage.
The most effective and inexpensive energy savings come in early design.

The energy efficiency of the building plays a large role in the comfort and health of the indoor living space. Airtight construction reduces the cold drafts while reducing mould risk and improving energy efficiency. Fresh air systems ensure a continuous filtered supply of temperature conditioned outdoor air. Triple pane glass keeps the windows warm, improving comfort, reducing heating and cooling demand, reduces the risk of condensation and the subsequent mould growth. Heavily insulated walls keeps the building warm and comfortable in the winter and cool in the summer saving up to 90% of heating energy.
High Performance Buildings bring comfort, clean air, resilience, and low energy bills and the best way to achieve that goal is through low carbon environmentally responsible design and energy systems.
Buildings can account for up to 50% of all carbon emissions in some jurisdictions. To meet Paris Accord commitments both embodied and operational emissions need to be reduced in all new construction immediately as building lifespans exceed Paris target dates.
